
The best performers on the Nikkei 225 were Oji Holdings Corp. (TYO:3861), which rose 11.23% or 62.70 points to close at 620.80. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. (TYO:7832) rose 7.09% or 237.00 points to close at 3,579.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) gained 5.81% or 515.00 points to close at 9,380.00.
The worst performers were Omron Cor (TYO:6645), which fell 5.63% or 292.00 points to close at 4,892.00. IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) fell 5.18% or 452.00 points to close at 8,278.00 and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011) dropped 4.12% or 98.50 points to close at 2,291.50.
Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2,079 to 1,473 and 315 ended unchanged.

Nikkei volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, fell 0.71% to 22.40.
Crude oil for January delivery rose 0.07% or 0.05 to $70.07 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery rose 0.04% or 0.03 to $73.44 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 1.21 to $2,710.61 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY rose 0.09% to 152.76, while EUR/JPY gained 0.02% to 159.80.
